Coating Weight Analysis

Coating weight or mass can be determined by test methods per ASTM A90 (Zinc), ASTM A428 (aluminum), or ASTM A309 (Terne- alloy coating of lead and tin). These coating provide protection against corrosion. 

Coils can be analyzed either total both sides (single spot) or each side separately. Terne coating is usually a triple spot test.

Sample is weighed, the coating is stripped, and then it is re-weighed. The results are usually reported in oz/ft 2 or g/m 2.

WHEN SENDING SAMPLES:

Sample size needed for testing should be at least 4" x 4" for plate samples.
