Stress Durability
Stress durability is the test for fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) to determine that lot has not been contaminated by hydrogen. Samples are torqued under tension or stressed and held for a period of time (48, 72, 96 hours or more), retorqued, unloaded, and then inspected for breakage.
Three common test methods used are:
- USCAR 7 Deembrittlement Verification Test
- ASTM F606
- NASM 1312-5
