Conductivity testing (ASTM E1004) uses reference standards of known value to determine the electrical conductivity of nonmagnetic materials such as aluminum or copper.
This test can also verify the type of metal or alloy, the type of heat treatment, or the aging of the alloy. The value obtained is usually expressed as a percentage of the conductivity of the International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS).
