The term tensile refers to the capability of the material being stretched or pulled out of shape. Flat Tensiles are made from sheet, coil, plate, tubes, extrusions, or manufactured parts. The waterjet is used for sample prep combining water and an abrasive substance to cut through materials. Waterjet cutting is a fast, effective method that does not compromise metals commonly affected by heat sensitivity. Typically the standard size (.500") is fabricated per ASTM E8, ASTM A370 (steel), or ASTM B557 (aluminum) from the raw material. Other specimen configurations (.750, .250", DIN, JIS, 80mm, etc.) are utilized. Samples can be pulled up to 400K. Tensile Testing has improved the turn time with these improvements.
